Bioprocess Engineer – Downstream Processing
📍 Switzerland | On-site only | Contract until February 2026

We are seeking a skilled Bioprocess Engineer (Downstream Processing) to join a major global biopharmaceutical manufacturer. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in the execution of GMP manufacturing campaigns, contributing to risk assessments, production documentation, equipment commissioning, and process improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, oversee, and support manufacturing campaigns within the downstream processing area.

  • Conduct and document safety, environmental, operational, and cleaning risk analyses for assigned products, implementing and monitoring relevant measures.

  • Prepare and review production documentation, including electronic batch records.

  • Execute manufacturing activities in compliance with cGMP guidelines, ensuring smooth batch execution, troubleshooting equipment, and recommending solutions.

  • Manage deviations, change requests, and CAPA implementation to maintain high GMP standards.

  • Serve as a production expert in capital investment projects, including commissioning and qualification of equipment and manufacturing suites.

  • Prepare and review MES/DeltaV recipes for facility and equipment components.

  • Coordinate engineering teams and workshops for campaign preparation and changeovers.

  • Deliver operator training for assigned products.

  • Represent the manufacturing function during audits and site visits.

  • Support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the production plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field.

  • Relevant professional experience:

    • MSc: 1–3 years

    • BSc: 3–5 years

  • Strong biotechnology or biotechnical engineering expertise, preferably in downstream processing.

  • Solid GMP understanding and experience in regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Knowledge of MES and/or DeltaV systems is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills and strong team orientation.

  • Fluent in English (German beneficial).

  • Organised, solutions-focused, and adaptable with a proactive mindset.

  • Competitive hourly rate in CHF
